When You Don't Know What To Do

We’ve all been there. That place where your mind is screaming, “Figure it out!”—but your intuition is completely quiet. You’re staring at your to-do list (or your life), and the only thing you feel is… stuck.

This episode of Magnetically You is here for those moments. When you truly don’t know what to do next—whether it’s in a big decision or the tiny moments of a regular day—these seven reminders will help you soften the pressure, return to presence, and allow the next step to come through.

1. Don’t Fill the Space With Mind-Made Action

When clarity is missing, the urge to “do something” often takes over. But not knowing isn’t a problem—it’s a pause. A moment to breathe, to listen. Instead of rushing to fix the discomfort, what if you allowed the space to stay open a little longer?

2. Give Yourself Permission to Not Know

Letting yourself be in the “I don’t know” can feel uncomfortable… but also deeply freeing. Here’s a short practice to help. The intention is to give yourself 3 full breaths to not know.

A 3-Breath Practice for Not Knowing:

  1. Breathe in through your nose.
    As you exhale out the mouth, gently sigh or whisper “ahhh.”
    Let this be your first moment of permission. You don’t need to change anything. Just allow yourself to be here.

  2. Breathe in again.
    Exhale slowly, feeling your body soften even just a little.
    You’re allowed to not know. You’re allowed to be in the in-between.

  3. One last breath in.
    Exhale with a soft sound.
    You don’t have to force anything. You don’t have to figure anything out.
    Just let yourself be.

This isn’t about “fixing” the uncertainty—it’s about meeting it with compassion and presence.

3. You Might Know What To Do Right Now

Often, we’re trying to figure out what to do later—what to do next, tonight, tomorrow. But what if clarity already exists for this moment? Maybe you’re meant to be listening to this podcast. Maybe your next step is already unfolding, one yes at a time. What feels clear now?

4. Live a Little, Give It a Rest

Your next step doesn’t have to be “productive” or “meaningful.” It can be a walk. A poetry night. Returning a blanket. Just living. Doing something light and silly opens space for new energy to flow in.

5. Your Action Doesn’t Need to Solve the Emotion

You don’t need to find the perfect thing to make the discomfort go away. Aimlessness is okay. You’re okay. Let the emotion be what it is, and let whatever you do (or don’t do) be allowed, without needing to “fix” anything.

6. Set the Intention

When it’s unclear, try setting an intention like:
✨ “Let it be easy and obvious.”
✨ “I’m ready for clarity. Please show me.”
It’s not about forcing an answer. It’s about opening the door.

7. Let Clarity Come To You

You're not lost. You’re listening. You’re allowing space for something more true. You can let clarity come. It always does.

You Don’t Have to Solve It

Not knowing what to do doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means you’re in process. Let that be enough. Life will meet you there.
